Snowing...ugh

10am UPDATE:  Heavy wet snow is now accumulating and my driveway is white.  Temperature has notched down to 33 degrees, and I've phoned the NWS office in Greer.  We are now in a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for 1-2" of snow this AM, before rain mixing in after noon.  Could be higher as fast as this is accumulating.  ACA roads definitely slick from the heavy slush...hopefully air temps stay above 32 this morning.

Don't know what else to add since this cold layer is in way ahead of all models, so this is a bit of "now-casting" and simply watching current conditions.  There is nothing to offer you wording wise from the NWS...it's catching them off-guard.  Heck, catching all of us off-guard.

Feel free to add your road/condition reports here in the comments section.  Thanks!

Bob

  1. 10:02 here at 579 and it has been snowing BIG flakes for maybe 15-30 minutes. Our temps fell too from 37 to 36 and the road surfaces appear wet rather than snowy....

  2. 10:47a - up to 34 from 33 @ end of Staymon. 1" of heavy wet snow, driveway covered. Heavy precipitation shield on the radar is pulling away from us, so I would expect these king-kong flakes to start backing off soon. HEADS UP TONIGHT: Whatever doesn't melt or get washed away (assuming there is much in the way of rain left later), will be ICE tomorrow morning...forecast lows 22-25 degrees. bob

  3. 11:07a and at 579 the snow is starting to hang around quite a bit more.....can see some on various parts of the road...probably almost an inch now on deck and vehicles....temp now down to 35 from 36 an hour ago. I'm sure glad we got Richard to the dentist yesterday rather than needing to do that today. Nice day to stay in and just enjoy the view out the windows....
