WINTER STORM WARNING continues for ACA until 6p MONDAY. Since we are now in the zone of passing snow showers coming in from the NW, it will be sporadic snowfall that will have the potential to drop another 3-7" of snow....gets real hit or miss in the 'snowers' realm, but suffice it to say we ain't done yet.
I will let John S. post info on plowing schedule for today, though temps too cold for salt to be working effectively. I will assume travel down/up Apple Creek road is dangerous and highly discouraged for now. It's all I can do to keep my driveway passable for the future, and I dare not try to negotiate Staymon on the steep side at this unplowed time. Incoming family members (the young and the bold!) had to park on Mauney Cove last night and trudge up.

We have friends living in Maggie Valley Club and in west Waynesville, and they both report 6 inches, so it seams that everyone got quite a bit. My sister lives in Boston, and it looks like they are going to really get pounded, 12-18 inches plus high winds. The low pressure that nailed us is at 992 mb right now, and they're predicting it to deepen to about 972 mb by tomorrow morning, which during the summer would produce at least a cat 2 hurricane. This has been a december to remember, including the California weather as well.

A December to remember or a December to forget? HA! My brother's just west of Boston and they are hunkered down....just a horrendous series of weather events for the record books. Snow has stopped for now, so time to go Manplow! :-)
ReplyDeleteA manplow is in my future soon!! My driveway is about 100' by 16', so the 36" one would work well.
ReplyDeleteThe weather channel said Asheville got 9". Pretty impressive for December so far. Almost our yearly snow totals in one month. Not looking forward to January and February.
