WINTRY MIX Mon-Tue

(NOTE: I put a mini-update in the comments section - thanks for all the input!)

Talk about your perfectly messy, sloppy forecast...

Snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain will all play musical chairs this Monday and Tuesday.  The big concern won't be for accumulating snow but for icing.  My snow models paint nothing more than an inch (if even that), maybe two on high peaks.  The better chance for any light accumulation would be overnight Monday into Tuesday.  Low temps won't be much below freezing, but that's cold enough for potentially icy, slick conditions early Tuesday morning.

  1. I'm here forecasting in Charlotte through Wednesday, so have no idea actual temps and conditions at ACA tonight. Models hinting at a range of 1-4" for the next front to affect us this coming Thursday evening/Friday, but temps not solidly cold enough for all snow...so it looks. Will update Tuesday.

  2. I just drove up to our place a few minutes ago and there is a light dusting of snow on some of the road between Mauney Cove and here at 579. It was drivable in our Subaru at this point but may get slicker later tonight or early in the morning. Our driveway was a bit slick too with the dusting of snow on it. And temp here is 33.

  3. Temperature up top is 32.5 at 5:38 am. As with Linn, a light dusting of snow. Do not know yet it there is ice underneath on the roadway.

  4. Thanks for the info...I finally remembered to put time stamps in our time zone! Hoping that nasty slush zone between "the hedge" and "the blue roof" is worn down some...

  5. Yesterday the slush zone was disappearing and last night the temps were only down to 32. This morning it is 33 so things appear much as they were when I got home last night .... just the light dusting... with fog rolling in. And much thanks to bob for changing the time stampe to our current time.....keeps me from having to think too much!

  6. Is over 40 degrees up here, sun, and good melt. I just went up the mountain in AWD, NOT 4WD, so the road has improved. 11:30

  7. I just washed the Jeep. Hoses are still frozen so I had to use a bucket. If a Netflix doesn't arrive today I'm leaving home!

  8. No real need for me to post a weather update, as the wintry mix/glop will be around tonight and switch back to rain tomorrow...only marginally freezing temps for most tonight. Models still want to paint 1-3" for Thursday night/Friday,before that crazy cold moves in for a few days. Overall weather pattern is unsettled with no clear-cut long-term trend for now. Aiming to drive in Thursday morning...sounds like I can do it, now!
